Blur Image is a way to blur image areas in your browser: drop a picture, drag over a face, a license plate or a house number, and blur just that part. Select nothing and the whole picture is blurred. A slider sets the strength. The image never leaves your device, nothing is stored, and it spends no credits.
How do I blur part of an image?
Drop the image or choose it from your device; JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and AVIF all open. Drag a rectangle over what you want to hide, set the strength, and press Blur. Only the selection changes. Drag a new area and repeat for the next face or plate. When nothing is selected, Blur applies to the whole image, which is useful for a soft background behind text. Then pick a format and download.
What should I blur before posting a photo?
Anything that identifies someone who didn’t agree to be shown, or that points to where you live:
- Faces of children, passers-by and people in the background.
- License plates on cars in street and driveway photos.
- Addresses: house numbers, street signs, parcels with a label.
- Screens and documents: names, emails, account numbers, tickets with a barcode.
Is blurring enough to hide text?
Light blur is not always enough. Text, numbers and faces that are only slightly softened can still be read or guessed, especially when the letters are large. For anything sensitive, push the strength up until the area is a smooth patch with no shapes left, or use Pixelate with large blocks, or both. Check the result zoomed in before you share it. Strong blur or pixelation is safer than light blur, and cropping the detail out entirely is safer still.
Can I blur the whole background?
The blur works on rectangles, not on the outline of a person, so it doesn’t make a portrait-mode effect around a subject. Blurring the whole image, or a wide band, works well for backgrounds behind captions or for a softened banner.
FAQ
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser and the image stays on your device, which matters when the point is privacy.
Can I remove the blur later?
Undo removes it while you’re still editing. Once the file is downloaded, the blurred pixels are what it contains.
What does it cost?
It comes with the Nexin library: Nexin Lite or Nexin Pro opens it, and it spends no credits.
