This JPG to PNG converter turns jpg to png in your browser, for when an app, a template or a site asks for PNG and all you have is a photo. Drop one image or many, convert, and download the PNGs. Your files never leave your device, nothing is stored, and it spends no credits.
Why convert JPG to PNG?
Most people do it for one of three reasons. A tool or upload form only accepts PNG. They plan to edit the image several times and don’t want each save to add more JPG compression. Or they’re preparing artwork, such as a sticker, a print file or a game asset, where the workflow is built around PNG. Since PNG is lossless, every save after the conversion keeps the image exactly as it is.
Will converting JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. The PNG holds exactly what the JPG had, including any blur or blocky artefacts from earlier compression. What PNG does is stop the losses from that point on. If you crop, annotate or retouch the image and save it again and again, a PNG stays the same while a JPG would slowly degrade.
Does JPG to PNG make the background transparent?
Not on its own. A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG you get has the same solid background the photo had. PNG can hold transparency, but someone has to remove the background first, in an editor or a background-removal tool. Converting is the step that gives you a file able to keep it.
Why is the PNG so much bigger?
JPG is designed to be compact for photos; PNG stores each pixel without loss. The same photo as PNG is usually several times larger. That’s normal and expected. If a site needs a small file and doesn’t insist on PNG, keep the JPG or convert to WebP instead.
Is it safe to convert JPG to PNG online?
Here, nothing goes online. The image is decoded and redrawn on a canvas inside your browser tab. Photos from a phone come out the right way up, because the rotation stored in the file is applied, while EXIF details like GPS location are not copied into the PNG.
