This AVIF to JPG converter turns avif to jpg in your browser, so an image that your computer can’t preview becomes a file that opens everywhere. Drop one AVIF or a batch, convert, and download the JPGs. Your images never leave your device, nothing is stored, and it spends no credits.
What is an AVIF file, and why won’t it open?
AVIF is a newer image format based on the AV1 video codec. Websites use it because it packs good-looking images into small files, which is why “Save image as” sometimes hands you a .avif. The catch is support outside the browser: older photo viewers, older versions of Photoshop and Office, many print kiosks and a lot of upload forms don’t know what to do with it. You end up with a file you can see online but can’t use.
Why convert AVIF to JPG?
JPG is the safe choice when you just need it to work. It opens on any computer and phone, attaches to any email, and passes nearly every upload form, from job applications to marketplace listings. For photos, a JPG at about 92% quality, which is what this tool writes, looks the way the AVIF did at normal viewing size.
Will the JPG be bigger than the AVIF?
Usually, yes. AVIF is one of the most efficient formats around, and JPG is decades older. The trade is a larger file for a format nobody refuses. If the size matters, run the JPG through Compress Image afterwards, or keep the AVIF for places that accept it.
What about transparent AVIF images?
AVIF can hold transparency; JPG can’t. Clear areas turn white when you convert. For a logo or cutout that should stay transparent, use the AVIF to PNG converter instead.
Is it safe to convert AVIF to JPG online?
This one never sends your files anywhere. Your browser decodes the AVIF and saves the JPG on your device. EXIF details like location are not carried into the new file. Reading AVIF needs a recent browser: Chrome, Edge or Firefox, or Safari 17 and later.
