AI Code Review is a skill for Claude that reviews your changes the way a careful senior engineer would. It reads the diff and the code around it, looks for what would actually break in production, and reports each problem with the file, the line, the input that triggers it and a fix. Ask Claude Code to review your branch or a pull request, and you get a merge verdict and a short, ranked list instead of a wall of opinions.
How this AI code review works
Most automated reviews either miss the real bug or bury it under style comments. This skill fixes the order. It checks correctness first: wrong results, empty and boundary inputs, error paths. Then security issues such as injection and missing authorization, then data safety in migrations, jobs and webhooks, then performance problems users would feel. Tests come next: whether the risky branch is covered, and whether the tests would fail if the bug came back. Readability points make the list only when they cost something real.
Before reporting anything, the skill tries to prove each finding wrong by rereading the code path and checking callers and tests. What survives comes with a concrete failure scenario, so you can see the problem in seconds and decide.
It reads your project, not just the diff
In Claude Code the skill reads each changed file in full, the code that calls it, and your project’s own rules and test setup. It reviews against what the change is meant to do. It changes nothing until you ask, then applies only the fixes you accept and runs your tests.
Who it’s for
- Solo developers who have nobody to review their pull requests.
- Teams that want a first pass before a human reviewer spends time on it.
- Anyone using Claude Code who wants a second look before merging what Claude wrote.
